french it up

I have always admired these classic French stripes on a cotton-knit top. I mostly remember it being a signature Jean Paul Gaultier top for those high-fashion enthusiasts, but of course, he didn't actually invent the famous Breton-striped, shoulder-buttoned top. I just simply adore the boat neck and the little buttons on one shoulder that should be functional, i.e. you can unbutton them.

Aside from being inspired by French fashion, can you guess what my other inspiration is for this outfit? The gondola man! The Italian man who rides the gondola, however, wears a skimmer hat and dark pants instead of a Panama hat and light-colored khakis.
